One of my friends is actually creative when it comes to building custom furniture out of pallets! Last week, he invited me over for wine as well as dinner to celebrate his current task.

Lauren is consistently looking for a reason to celebrate, so I knew that it would be fun… Plus, I was actually thrilled for his for landing his dream task so early into his work, and on my drive over to his house, I thought about all of the cool crafts my buddy and I used to make in university, then he was my university roommate as well as most of the furniture my buddy and I had was custom built by her. She was in the sculpture program at our school as well as had a way of building custom furniture out of anything, and when I arrived at his house, I wanted to know what kind of projects he had been working on. All of the furniture in his property was built by herself as well as his husband! They are quite the power couple when it comes to creativity, however his creative style paired with his woodworking skills makes for a particular style as well as a lot of quality, custom furniture! His newest project was building custom outdoor patio furniture for their current home. She built a custom sofa, root budweiser table as well as grill rest all from outdated pallets. The backyard was just their style… It is so superb to see two creative minds come together to create a space that is the perfect combination of the two of them.

Her newest project was building custom outdoor patio furniture for their new home. She built a custom sofa, root carona table plus grill stand all from outdated pallets. The backyard was just their style. It is so great to see two creative minds come together to create a space that is the perfect combination of the two of them.

Fifth avenue style

I have the biggest sweet tooth ever.

• I’ve had a soft spot for sweets my entire life.

My mom told me that even as a toddler I would choose sweets over any other food. Recently, I’ve had to cut back on my sweets because of health issues, but that doesn’t keep me from baking. Thankfully, I have found many recipes that call for little to no sugar, and they still taste great. I don’t think that I could count how many hours I spend in the kitchen each year. When I get together with my friends, we spend most of our time baking. If I already have baked goods for my family, I bake for my neighbors and people in my church. If I could sum up what I do each day in one word, it would be “baking.” With all this baking comes hours upon hours spent in the kitchen. I don’t mind being in my kitchen now because my husband just had a brand new AC unit installed in there. Before I had the AC, the kitchen would get really hot and stuffy. For years, I baked in this uncomfortable temperature simply because I wasn’t willing to spend the money on an air conditioner. Last week, my husband walked into the kitchen to give me a kiss before he left for a meeting. As soon as he felt the temperature, he freaked out. He was always at work when I did my baking, so he never realized just how warm the kitchen got. He couldn’t believe that I could work in such a hot room. I explained to him that I was used to it, and that is didn’t bother me. He simply wouldn’t hear it, and he had a new AC unit installed for me the very next day. Although I was used to the temperature of the kitchen, I am so thankful for a loving husband who takes good care of me. Now my kitchen is cool all the time, even when I’m baking.

My parents recently purchased a cabin in the middle of nowhere.

• They were able to get a really good deal on it, and the best part is that they offered the cabin to my husband and me anytime that we needed a break from society.

Last week, my husband had off of work, so we decided to take my mom and dad up on their offer to let us use the cabin. Both my hubby and I were super excited to have some time away and to get some much needed rest. My parents told us that they had not yet stayed in the cabin, but they were sure that it was in great condition, and we wouldn’t have any problems. When we arrived at the cabin, everything looked great. Because it was the middle of January, we needed to turn the heater on as soon as we arrived. Although we had trouble at first, Vince followed my dad’s instructions and was able to get the heater turned on. Unfortunately, we went snow tubing and came back a few hours later only to find the cabin just as cold as when we had left it. I called my dad and asked him if he knew what the problem might be. He didn’t know, but he came up that evening to look at it. After a few hours, Vince and my dad had the heater working again. I was so happy that we didn’t have to spend our vacation in a cold cabin, but most of all I was very thankful for the two amazing men that God has placed in my life.

Having clean air to breathe is a key factor in maintaining good health.

My friend Amy and I have lived in southern Asia for almost five years now.

We both have great jobs, and we really enjoy living in a foreign country and exploring new places. Amy is super creative, and she likes studying the architecture of the old city we live in. My passion is cooking, and I love to try new foods from the vendors on the sides of the streets. When we are together, we enjoy sightseeing. We have visited many ancient places throughout the years that we have lived in Asia. One thing that neither Amy nor I was prepared for is the air pollution. Although the city we live in isn’t very large, there are two larger cities surrounding us, and they both create large amounts of air pollution. For this reason, Amy and I have been looking into buying air purifiers for our apartment. We found a few that have really good reviews, and they look like they would do a great job. I personally think that we should purchase one of these air purifiers, but Amy has another idea. She wants to instal an air purification system throughout the entire apartment. I think this is a great idea, but it is much more expensive than purchasing a couple individual air purifiers. I have tried to talk her out of her idea because of the expense, but she thinks that it is worth the expense, and that we would be risking our health if we don’t instal a purifier throughout the entire apartment. Whichever air purification system we choose, I will be thankful to have clean air to breathe, and I’m sure my health will thank me too.

Camping trips are my favorite part about summertime.

My husband and I love to get away and go camping.

It is one of our favorite hobbies. We have stayed at some of the best campsites in the U.S. We are not the type of people who bring a trailer or RV to camp in. We like to feel a little more rustic when we spend our days away from home. Camping in a tent gives us that outdoors feeling while still providing us with shelter. We have purchased many tents throughout our years of camping together, but the tent we have now is by far the best tent that we have ever owned. It has a central living space that is high enough for my husband to walk around in, and it was three tunnels branching out from the center, each leading to a separate room. We love the space it provides, and it gives us lots of room for storing things. One luxury item that we never leave behind is our portable AC unit. Although it isn’t as rustic as some people prefer, my husband and I like to feel comfortable while in our tent, and the AC unit makes that possible. After being out fishing all day or hiking, we turn on our AC and the entire tent is cool within thirty minutes. It is absolutely wonderful. Because our favorite campsites are down South, having a portable AC unit in our tent is a must for us. We love camping, and having AC makes it even more enjoyable.

You have got to be crazy to live in a RV 24/7! That’s just what my family and I are: crazy.

We love to travel the U.S.

and discover new places. We have traveled to every state in the U.S., and we are now working on traveling a second time through each state. In each state, we stay about two weeks. During this time, we sightsee and visit friends. Living in a RV with three kids isn’t easy, but it is worth it. We have no mortgage, and we save a lot of money by living a very minimalistic lifestyle. My husband does all of his work from home, and I have a part time job that I am able to do from home as well. With traveling a lot, especially through the summertime, we have learned that our dehumidifier is our best friend. Our RV gets so humid and sticky that it feels like we are living in a sauna. Before we purchased our dehumidifier, it got so humid that the wallpaper in our bedroom and bathroom began to peel off. Our AC works great, but it just doesn’t get rid of the sticky humid feeling in our RV. Another problem was that our clothes always had a damp feeling to them because the rooms were so humid. I am very thankful my husband decided to purchase a dehumidifier; it has made our lives much more pleasant. I can finally grab a dress from my closet and not feel like I am wearing a damp mop!

But, the restaurant simply doesn’t have the funds to install an AC unit right now

I have a love/hate kind of relationship with summertime. Being a college student is hard work, but knowing that summer break is coming keeps me motivated. I am a junior in college, and for the past three summers, I have worked at a local diner to help raise money for college tuition. Honestly, it is one of my favorite jobs because I get free food every time that I work. Sometimes my manager will even send the leftover baked goods home with me! My co-workers are a blast to be around, and my employer is a really nice guy. Another great plus is that they work around my busy schedule. I think the only downfall to my job is the temperature of the kitchen. There is no AC in the kitchen of the diner, and this makes working dreadful. I am a cook, and I am in the kitchen 99% of the time that I’m at work. Although I didn’t have any AC as a child, I have yet been able to get used the temperature of the kitchen. Cooking makes the kitchen so hot that I feel like I can’t breathe sometimes. As I said before, my manager is a great guy, and he wants to make his employees as comfortable as possible. But, the restaurant simply doesn’t have the funds to install an AC unit right now. It is for this reason that I have a love/hate relationship with summertime. I love that I get a break from by studies, but I hate that I have to work in a kitchen with no AC for over eight hours a day.

I love boating! The summertime is a time for vacation and fun.

Recently, my friend Victoria and I took a week long vacation out on the water. Victoria’s dad owns a beautiful houseboat that he allowed us to borrow for our outing. Victoria practically grew up out on the water, so she knew exactly how to run the boat and what to do if problems were to arise. The first of couple days were absolutely amazing. We spent a lot of time tubing and surfing. Each day, we traveled to a new area and docked the boat for the night. It wasn’t until the third night that we had an problems. Wednesday, it rained and caused the temperature to drop considerably. We were not really prepared for such a chilly evening. We tried to go to sleep that night, but both of us were too cold to fall asleep. Thankfully, Victoria discovered that the boat had a built-in heater. It took us an hour to figure out how to turn the heater on, but when we finally figured it out, it was worth all the hassle. The room quickly warmed up, and we slept well the rest of that evening. Later on when we returned home, Victoria’s dad informed us that the previous Wednesday night had actually dropped all the way down to 40 degrees! We explained the whole story to him, and he was very glad we were able to find the heater and turn it on. Both Victoria and I will forever remember that wonderful holiday and how grateful we were to discover that the boat had a built in heater.
