I have to write nine more articles today and then another 45 minutes of work online before my weekend starts.

I also have to go food shopping at 3:30pm when it is slow and get my food for the week.

We are playing music today by this big church at 5pm and I need to get ready for that too. I think I can get this writing work done and the other work online in about an hour and a half if I stay focused, and then I will do my yoga and hit the store for food. Air conditioning is going to be needed soon as the winter is dwindling quickly and my heating hasn’t been used for weeks now. It is still February but the temps are going up quite quickly and I guess that winter is already coming to an end now. I still use the fireplace now and then, but wood is getting scarce now and I don’t need more heating in my flat now that the temps are going up. I want to try and just open my windows to stay cool for the next couple of months so that my power bills don’t eat me alive. I think I can make it with just a fan each day and not run my cooling system until June. At least it uses less power than trying to stay warm in the wintertime, as I discovered this past winter with my crazy high power bills. I didn’t know that the electric furnace uses a lot more power than the air conditioning.

We are getting together our branding for our band this year and are going to put it out there for the world to see in a few more months. We have a good website and a bunch of songs online. All we need now are some good photos of the band and pictures of shows that we are doing in front of the big crowds we are getting. Our plan is to get into the beach bars in the summertime and then get in the ski lodges in the winters, I think that would be a great rotation. Heating in the ski lodges and cooling in the beach bars is a must if we are going to be able to do this long term. I just don’t want to be freezing playing outside somewhere during the winter and steaming hot in the summer playing without a fan or anything. Speaking of fans, my fan broke and my mini split a/c unit still hasn’t arrived, so I am going to have to go to the HVAC company today and get a nice fan for my bedroom. The fan also helps with white noise and with my sleep, as there are all kinds of noises in the middle of the night from people in my building and in bars around the corner. The local business behind me has a terrace that gets pretty loud, and also below them there is an air conditioned pool hall that can get kind of rowdy late at night too. I will go get that fan in an hour or two.

I chose to move over here to do HVAC systems repairs and work for this local contractor friend of mine and pursue my career in music

It is 9am and I am working away like a good little boy. I will work till 10am and then head down to the beach for a dip, and then I’ll come back and knock out the rest of my work here in the office. I’m listening to my mom’s lovely voice about some family stuff with my uncle, who has been diagnosed with a deadly disease. It is sad to hear, but then again, he has been living unhealthily for the past 40 years and kind of did it to himself I guess. Doing my heating and cooling work gives me some stability and structure, and I am happy that I have an HVAC systems job to do each day to help put food on the table and pay my rent. I would like to talk to my uncle but I am sure he isn’t feeling too good about his diagnosis. Just be happy you are alive and healthy because it isn’t guaranteed to last forever. My oil furnace isn’t going to last forever either, as the HVAC tech who serviced it told me that it was on its last leg a few years ago. I am a bit sad being overseas while my family gets older and lives and dies without me even being in the country. I chose to move over here to do HVAC systems repairs and work for this local contractor friend of mine and pursue my career in music. I guess we can’t have it all and I need to live my own life too. Ahh, it is finally Friday! This is funny because we just had the Carnaval celebration in town for nine days of chaos and it just calmed down two nights ago, and here we are back at the weekend for more partying.

How did I migrate to one of the party capitals of the world without trying? I guess being an entertainer this place drew me here for some reason and I just have to go with the flow.

Kind of like the airflow of my air purifier, or even my HVAC system, I just go where life takes me. I’ve been an entertainer for 50 years, since way back as a kid, so now maybe I have found my home and resting place for the rest of my life. This summer I’ll work for the local contractor while doing shows in air conditioned clubs and bars, and on the weekends I will do some more gigs and some ductwork repairs for this HVAC company. My main goal though is to do shows in the beach bars and pack the places with happy dancing people. I wish my HVAC rep friend could join us, but he is so busy with heating and cooling equipment sales and service that he has no time to play with us. He also has a wife and four little kids, so free time is a thing of the past for him for the next twenty years or so. I helped him install a zone control HVAC system long ago for the local contractor and we have been friends ever since.

This is the doggiest town I have ever lived in in my whole life.

I think we have more dogs than people in this place.

I like dogs but I wouldn’t want to own one, as I am more of a laid back cat person. I am not into walking dogs every day and I think I would get lazy and not do it and end up with a depressed and angry dog, so I will just stick with my cats that don’t need walking. I tried taking my cat to the beach one day but it freaked out. The air purifier is my cat’s bed, as I think it likes the sound of the HVAC machine while it is giving us some good air quality in this flat each day. I guess cats are built more for indoors and being outside makes them feel vulnerable to dogs and other wild animals. The heating corp is open today and I am going to head down there and grab a washable filter for my air purifier and then go to the beach to get some fresh air. I’ve been cooped up in my flat all day working on music and I need to get outside and let my eyes rest a bit. Okay, I just got out and now I am going to clean my a/c HEPA filter and then work on the main HVAC system if I have time this morning before I take my cold water swim later this morning. If I can’t get it done soon then I am going to do it later.

I spent most of my day online editing our music from the last few shows we did.

It takes a lot of work to listen through all of the bad music to find the gems, edit them, and then package them on the website online for people to listen to.

I love making new songs and this summer we are going to try to break into the music scene in this town by playing at the beach bars and local clubs in the center. We will also play some in the streets by the local businesses to practice and make some side money. HVAC tech work for the local contractor could be a thing of the past one day if we end up becoming successful in this racket. I did stand up comedy for 15 years prior to this music venture and I am finding out that it wasn’t in vain, as it is helping me a lot with the performing. I still will work at the local business selling smart thermostats and HEPA filters, but I bet by next summer I won’t have to work in the HVAC field any more. We want to get an RV and travel all around the country and maybe even go to other countries to see how people like it. I will keep working at the HVAC company till all this pans out, and besides, selling heating and cooling equipment is kind of fun. It isn’t as fun as playing original music in beach bars with dancing and clapping folks, but it pays the bills for now in my life.

I can’t believe we all survived the crazy Carnaval celebration in this town and it is all back to normal here now.

There is still a lot of cleaning up to do but it is all coming together once again.

I think next year I will leave town during the crazy time here because there are just way too many people here to relax and enjoy life. I could rent a small flat in a small town inland to avoid the crowds and come back when it is all over. I’m not into partying anymore and a nice fireplace burning in front of me with a good book sounds like a better plan to me. I’ll ask my lady if she wants to do the same and we will bring the cats along too and make it our own little sanctuary. The heating dealership closes during this time of the year because most of the people coming into town don’t buy any heating or cooling devices and the owner doesn’t like all of the chaos either. It sounds like we are becoming those old people who don’t like all of the partying and noise, I guess it is just natural to not want to be around the chaos when you are older. My heating rep told me that he and his HVAC tech wife leave for two weeks during the Carnaval celebration so they don’t have to worry about catching the tail end of it or something. That sounds like a good plan to me and maybe we will tag along with them.

I need to get my work done in the next hour so that I can go shopping while the store is slow. The best time is mid afternoon after all of the older folks are done shopping in the morning and before all of the workers come invade the stores after they finish working. I will get my food for the week, for about a total of $60 or so, and I’ll be set for another seven days of my life. Wow life is really going by so fast, I hope you are enjoying the short ride we’re on. Ductwork cleaning and sealing is a good distraction, but I know I won’t be an HVAC tech much longer as I am retiring soon and calling it quits. Just try to be happy and enjoy your youth because it slips away like a leaf in the wind and one day you’ll wake up old like me. I like being a heating tech and working on air purifiers and air ducts, but I still feel like my life is coming to an end and I haven’t done all of the things that I really wanted to do out of fear. Oh well, at least my programmable thermostat isn’t afraid of keeping us all cozy in the home here while we watch our gas fireplace flicker in the living room. I have a passion for music and like to listen to it by the fire while I read a book or just play with the cats. I’m off now to go clean the furnace filter and then go for a run.

I’m having a nice day working away in the flat.

I have some new songs that I have to edit and upload, I guess maybe that is why I am feeling good today. I like to create new songs, and who knows, maybe one day I’ll make a good one that gets played all over the world. I guess it doesn’t really matter how many people hear it in the end, it is more important to just create things and grow as a person. I just got into music but it is really pulling me into itself quickly. Hot water heating is on the slate for today as we have no hot water right now. I have to call up someone and get them to come and fix this so we can take a hot shower again. There is a good heating corp near us and I think the HVAC tech that works there is really good and could fix our hot water boiler in a blink. I will just walk down there in a little while and see if she is working and if she can get over to our flat to fix it sometime today or tomorrow. I can take cold showers because I have a space heater in my office, but my wife has no heating in her office and she doesn’t like cold showers at all so I need to get it fixed quickly. Once I get that done I can take a long run on the beach and a swim in the sea. See you later.

We just made a new song about being crazy and feeling alone.

I love making new songs, it gives me a sense of accomplishment and connects me with people. I guess it makes me feel like my life has some kind of meaning when I create something cool. I’ll be gone one day, we all will, and maybe it makes it feel like it was a worthwhile experience when we make something. We can make a song, a baby, a house, something that tells the world we were once here. Maybe in the end it doesn’t matter. Maybe HVAC installations for people tell them I care, especially in the summer when their climate control system breaks down in the sweltering heat. I am 55 now and who knows how much time I have left, and I feel like I really haven’t accomplished much in my life compared to all of my friends. I’m just an HVAC repairman doing HVAC system repairs and things like that, along with some music that I play in the streets. I feel like I should have started playing music a long time ago, but no, I had to go to college and try to become an engineer, which was not a good choice for me. I should have just done heating and cooling system installs while practicing music on the side. I probably could be a big famous musician by now if I began a long time ago, but I guess it is too late now. But then again, working at the heating dealership is kind of fun!
