How you can save money on energy bills

If you live in a colder weather conditions, your furnace is important to your family’s comfort.

Unfortunately, running your furnace all winter long can become expensive after a while, although keeping your home warm in the winter doesn’t mean that you have to break the bank with the energy bill.

Here are a few things you can do this winter to reduce your energy consumption, and lower your Heating and A/C costs. Upgrading your windows to double pane windows with vinyl or wooden frames is a great way to keep your home insulated, and help your Heating and A/C system run more efficiently! SIngle pane windows are incredibly inefficient, and do not insulate your home really well, so the heat energy is escaping right through your windows. Upgrading your windows is an easy way to increase the energy efficiency of your Heating and A/C system. Another way to save money on your energy costs is to update to a smart thermostat with zone control. A smart thermostat is connected to WIFI and can be programmed via an app on your phone or computer, and can heat your home more efficiently than a traditional control unit, then zone control is the ability to direct the flow of air throughout your home via a series of valves installed within the ductwork. Using a smart thermostat with zone control, you can be sure that you are using your furnace in the most efficient way, making sure that you aren’t using energy to treat vacant rooms, with these easy Heating and A/C updates, you can use less energy, and lower your daily heating costs.

Making time for the HVAC at home

I spend too much time in the office and that hurts the home front.

  • The time that I am at home, I’m trying to focus fully on my wife and kids.

They should come first since I spend a lot of time in the zone controlled HVAC comfort of my downtown office. However, there is also just so much time in a day, a week and a month. I just can’t seem to get it all done. The stuff that really falls through the cracks are the stuff I’m responsible when it comes to the house. My wife has so much on her plate with the kids and her job and all of it that I just have to get better about my household responsibilities. A big, important one is the care of the HVAC equipment. I’m the one that deals with the HVAC unit and all the stuff that goes with heating and cooling. Yet, I have gone more than a couple of months without changing the HVAC air filter at times. This is the most basic when it comes to heating and cooling tasks. To not be able to simply change the air filter is ridiculous. So I started setting alarms for myself. A clogged up air filter is not good for the HVAC equipment. It forces the HVAC unit to work harder for no reason. A dirty air filter impedes the air flow of the HVAC which also reduces the efficiency. I’ve been at this now for a few months and I haven’t missed an air filter change yet. Now, I just need to set some alarms for the HVAC maintenance appointments.

Can’t seem to get help with thermostat at home

Sometimes when I hear myself sounding exactly the way my old man did, it makes me cringe.

Well, I’ve been sounding that way for some time now about the HVAC equipment.

My family seems to believe that heating and cooling is just constant and is as free as the air. Granted, heating and cooling has everything to do with air but it sure ain’t free. But this appears to mean nothing to anyone else in my family. Even my wife is guilty of jacking the thermostat all over the place and then forgetting about it. And I have gone on and on about the cost of HVAC heating and cooling. And I have gone on and on about easing the load on the HVAC equipment so it lasts. It’s like I’m talking to myself because all I hear are echos. Finally, I just stopped talking. All my requests fell on completely deaf ears. So what’s the point. Still, I wasn’t going to deal with the way the thermostat was being abused. And there was no way that I was going to continue to spend and waste the money we were spending on HVAC costs. So I called the HVAC company. I figured that I wasn’t the only dad out there with this problem. Indeed, I wasn’t the only one. The HVAC professional suggested putting in a smart thermostat. There is a way to lock everyone out but me. Before I hung up the phone, I made an appointment to have the smart thermostat installed.

Getting the most from my garage space with HVAC

It’s funny how I not only sort of ignored the garage in my house but let it become a dumping ground.

We’ve been in this house now for about 7 years.

When we first moved in, we could fit the newer car inside the garage easily and had plenty of room for our other outdoor gear. Our house is lovely and has some great heating and cooling. The longer I lived in the house the more I got into being inside that quality heating and air. Since my truck was parked outside, I rarely ventured into the garage. Then one day, we could no longer fit any cars in the garage as it was now all storage or a collection of junk. This went on for a long time. Then it sort of dawned on me as I was thinking about trying to find a quiet spot for myself. I love my family but there are times when I could use a moment to myself. I really didn’t have my own space so I thought why not the garage. This led to a few weekends spent cleaning out and organizing the garage. Then, I called the HVAC company and they installed a ductless heat pump. This allows me to utilize the space in the garage for a place I can sort of tinker around. I have a workbench where I have some household project always in process. With the ductless heat pump, I can do my thing in the heat of summer or when it’s cold outside. The ductless heat pump delivers plenty of quality heating and air.

Take care of the HVAC that takes care of you

I don’t really like feeling that I have to defend the value of HVAC maintenance. But the fact that I have a neighbor who doesn’t believe in heating maintenance or an air conditioning tune-up, I felt compelled to speak my mind. That is sort of unusual for me. Normally, when I hear a blow hard going on about something they actually know nothing about, I usually ignore them. That’s really the simplest way to avoid listening to misrepresentations and twisted logic. But this guy that lives down the street kind got me fired up by calling me a sucker for paying for HVAC maintenance. I did my best to check my anger because I don’t like getting in shouting matches with anyone. But this guy was such a smug idiot that I had no choice but to lay some facts on him. Like, if HVAC maintenance is a scam, is all maintenance then a scam? Perhaps you can’t prove that to me by not getting your oil changed on your truck for a couple of years. That would prove the point wouldn’t it? Yea, HVAC maintenance is so unnecessary that HVAC equipment getting consistent HVAC maintenance lasts about 7 years longer than those that don’t. I mean that’s pretty indisputable fact based on data from a third party. I kept at him like this for another five minutes to just stop him from talking. Somehow, I actually out talked someone who can’t seem to stop talking. Then, I turned on my heel and walked into my garage.

Versatility of heat pump is pretty unique

That’s pretty remarkable and the very definition of versatile

I’ve lived in regions where you simply have to have a gas furnace or boiler for HVAC heating during the winter. There is a certain amount of cold where that is the sort of HVAC equipment needed during the winter. Where I live now, the heat pump does a great job of heating. However, the mild winter in this region does get a lot of call for heating. And while the land of the gas furnace is too cold for the heat pump to be efficient with heating, the heat pump is still a remarkable dual threat. The heat pump is a very versatile piece of equipment. And the heat pump is really a revolutionary machine when it comes to HVAC in general. The heat pump helped open up areas that were thought to be simply too hot to be population centers. That’s pretty remarkable. But while the heat pump is sort of intertwined with HVAC cooling, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t great at heating either. For much of the country, the heat pump gets through winter wonderfully. When it’s time for heating and will flip the switch on the thermostat, the heat pump just reverses the process for HVAC cooling. Now, the heat pump is extracting heat energy from outside to bring inside for heating. And it can do this very efficiently to temperatures below freezing. That’s pretty remarkable and the very definition of versatile. The heat pump is still the leading form of residential heating and cooling equipment in this country. Not bad for something that’s been in our homes since the 1950’s.

Humidity balance is part of HVAC cooling process

As the heat pump extracts the heat energy from our homes to exhaust outside, it is balancing the humidity as well

I love the two for one situation. This is my favorite thing about where I do the majority of my grocery shopping. It seems like they know what I shop for because almost invariably, there is a buy one get one sale for something we use. So it made me happy to learn that we get a two for one situation when it comes to air conditioning. The HVAC cooling process is one that we value greatly in this region. The summer is brutal and without my fair share of HVAC cooling, I don’t think I could even manage the heat and humidity. That’s what is so unique about the heat pump. The thing deals with both heat and humidity with one process. That’s the sort of two for one thing that I love. When the residential HVAC kicks on to lower the temperature in our houses, it starts by moving heat energy. This is what makes the HVAC technology so revolutionary. The ability to move or pump heat energy from one place to another was revolutionary. To this day, at its core, modern HVAC technology in our residential HVAC equipment does essential the same thing. As the heat pump extracts the heat energy from our homes to exhaust outside, it is balancing the humidity as well. The process of exhausting the heat energy also takes a measure of the moisture out of the air. This not only makes it more comfortable inside our homes, it mitigates mold and mildew growth as well.

My mom says that our house is just too cold for her

My mom hardly ever comes over to visit my house because she says that it’s way too cold for her.

I honestly really can’t believe that we have gotten to this point in our relationship.

Of course, my mother is getting older, but we tend to fight a lot more now than we ever used to for some reason. And one of the things that we have been fighting over a lot recently or the thermostat settings in my house. I really don’t understand what her problem is, because she never used to have an issue with the temperature inside of my house. She used to come here and hang out all the time, but these days she will barely come over here at all. And when she does come, she makes it a point to wear around her winter coat and her snow boots when she’s inside of her house. It’s really annoying. I keep asking her why she’s so cold all the time, and she says that she doesn’t know. She says that she’s the normal one, and I am crazy because I want to keep my house at freezing cold temperatures even during the winter. However, we keep our thermostat settings at exactly the same levels that we have always kept them! We actually have a smart thermostat so I have at least two years worth of the history of our thermostat settings that I could show my mom. I don’t think that would help our situation though. That would probably just make her even more mad. She definitely does not like to be proven wrong.

The heating system in our camper is broken

Something is going wrong with the heating system in our camper. We’ve had our camper for a long time now and for the most part, the heating system has been really great in it. I’m not quite sure what’s going on at this point, seeing as how we have never had trouble with our camper’s heating system before. We are the kind of people who go camping year round, And so this whole issue with our heating system is really putting a cramp in our style. We wanted to go camping this coming weekend before Christmas gets here, but now it looks like we are not going to be able to because the heating system isn’t working. We love to go camping and be out in nature, but we never really want to brave the terribly cold temperatures in the winter. We aren’t exactly the kind of campers who like to “rough it,” if you know what I mean. Of course, it’s the same thing for us during this summer. We would never go camping if we did not have the air conditioning system up and running in the camper. I know that some hardcore campers would probably make fun of us because of this, but it’s just the way that we are. Anyway, I guess I’m gonna have to call somebody about this heating system situation. I’m not really sure who to call. I guess I will start out with our local camping supply store. Maybe they know a local heating and cooling company who will also service camper heating systems.
