Why You should choose a heat pump

Whenever you replace your HVAC system, you also have the opportunity to increase your home’s efficiency.

Investing in a new cooling or heating system can hurt your wallet, but it can also save you money in the long run.

Heat pumps are among the most efficient HVAC systems. A heat pump powered by electricity offers clean heating and cooling technology and heats or cools a home quietly and gently without blasts of air like forced air systems. Similar to an air conditioner, air source heat pumps provide cooling. The refrigerant is moved from an outdoor compressor to indoor coils, where the heat is absorbed by the refrigerant. The refrigerant is cooled off by a fan, which circulates cool air through the ductwork, while the refrigerant is returned to the compressor. It is reversed for heating, with the refrigerant absorbing heat from the outdoor air and transferring it indoors. This process works well with outdoor temperatures down to the mid to lower 30s. With lower temperatures, the heat pump defaults to an electric resistance system that can be pricey to operate for long periods. That’s why heat pumps are a good bet for more temperate climates like ours, for heating or cooling.
