Their music was distracting.

I was working in an air conditioning unit last week.

The homeowners had planned a party for that day.

Instead of having me show up the following day or the day before, they agreed to my arriving today. The party was in full swing when I arrived. The music was so loud and distracting that I was making more mistakes than I had ever made. I was torn between asking them to turn the music down and leaving to pick up some parts. I knew I would not need any parts, but I also would get nothing done with balls flying, kids screaming, and music so loud I couldn’t concentrate. I walked over to the service van, and no one noticed. I called the shop and told them what was going on. I needed to vent to someone, and who better than the HVAC company boss? He asked if I had said anything, but no one even realized I was there. It was as if I was invisible. The boss told me to come back to the HVAC company. He had an idea and it just may work. We had an HVAC technician who had a hearing defect. Without his hearing aid, he couldn’t hear a thing. He was going to call Joe and ask if he would do the AC repair, since the loud music and people wouldn’t bother him. Two hours later, Joe showed up at the HVAC company and told us he had finished the air conditioning repair. No one noticed he wasn’t the original HVAC technician, or that he was gone for nearly an hour.
