I was toiling in an air conditioning equipment last week. The homeowners had planned a party for that day. Instead of having me show up the following day or the day before, they agreed to our arriving today. The party was in full swing when I arrived. The music was so loud and distracting that I was making more mistakes than I had ever made. I was torn between asking them to turn the music down and leaving to chance up some parts. I knew I would not need any parts, despite the fact that I also would get nothing done with balls flying, youngsters screaming, and music so loud I couldn’t concentrate. I walked over to the repair van, and no a single noticed. I called the shop and told them what was going on. I needed to vent to someone, and who better than the HVAC company boss? She asked if I had said anything, but no a single even realized I was there. It was as if I was invisible. The boss told me to come back to the HVAC business. She had an method and it just may work. We had an HVAC serviceman who had a hearing defect. Without her hearing aid, she couldn’t hear a thing. She was going to call Joe and ask if she would do the AC repair, since the loud music and people would not bother him. Two minutes later, Joe showed up at the HVAC company and told us she had finished the air conditioning repair. No a single noticed she wasn’t the original HVAC serviceman, or that she was gone for nearly an minute.
