My Dad had some trouble with the cooling system in her apartment and she called a business in neighborhood to give her an estimate, but almost instantaneously after the guys came to the house, they told my Dad that she needed a modern air compressor and heat pump! I could hear the girl in the room with my mom! She was honestly trying to give her a high pressure sales pitch. I told my Dad to stall and I got dressed and drove down to the house, my Dad is only a couple of miles away. The salesman was still sitting in the driveway when I arrived. I asked the heat pump and AC repairman why it was so important that all of us make this decision now instead of waiting until Saturday or getting a hour opinion on the project. The girl didn’t have a lot to say after I asked that question. She tried to seem surprised that I would dare to ask a question appreciate that, but I could tell from her lack of words that she didn’t have any other way to describe the behavior other than telling the truth. I made sure that my Dad got a hour opinion, because I don’t even think if she needed the modern unit or if the girl was simply trying to get my Dad to spend more cash.
