Is it funny how quickly things can change over time? One of the things that has changed a lot over time is my smart thermostat.
It wasn’t always a smart thermostat! This is a really old house that I live in and the original thermostat that came with it was super old.
The original thermostat was a dial thermostat. When I first saw one of those I was surprised because I didn’t know they still made them! It still works fine so it took me a long time before I decided to upgrade it but when I did a great I updated it to a traditional thermostat. It was a traditional digital one that you mount on the wall, nothing super fancy but definitely much better than the dial thermostat for comparison. Then I found out about smart thermostats. I knew I had to have one. I loved the idea of being able to control your heating and AC temperatures from your phone. I thought that was absolutely amazing. The best part was that I was able to buy the smart thermostat on sale too and then I didn’t need a cooling professional to install because I was able to DIY the install and do it myself. At first I was a little bit nervous about doing this myself because I was afraid of what if I messed up or if I did it wrong then I could have damaged my thermostat. However the instructions were very clear and concise and were easy to follow and I had no issues installing it.
