Picking out our own heater

When our furnace died I was totally at a loss on what to do.

A man in his early twenties, I had never researched heating component before.

My home came with a heater, that was good enough for me. I thought it would be dumb not to shop around. I couldn’t just blindly accept what the old homeowner chose. The home had an old gas fireplace. It took up a lot of floor space in the dining room and didn’t absolutely heat the home that well. When it died, it was good riddance. I found in our research that there are a lot of heating possibilities out there. I could have a central Heating, Ventilation, and A/C component with or without ductwork. I could get a heat pump system. All of these possibilities also provide me the chance to have cooling as well. There are gas, oil and electric furnaces too. Teh heating system affixs to ductwork and can create the whole lake home temperature. A boiler system is super luxurious but can last fifty years, but you can hook a boiler up to radiators, baseboards or even piping for floor heating. I ended up ripping up our dining room floors when the fireplace died. It made sense to do all the lake home floors. Since I was deep in this project, heated flooring was the system I chose. I now have electric heated mats underneath our floorboards. I have electric heat that doesn’t create noise, cold spots or energy waste. It is a much better choice than that gas fireplace was.
