My mother told me it wasn’t women’s work.

I couldn’t wait to go house and tell our dad about the senior toil expo they had presented.

I had listened to various people, but the only a single that tempted me, was the HVAC presentation.

I was sure the first thing she would recognize was that I wanted to be an HVAC serviceman because the presenter was adorable, but that would not be the truth. She was old. She was almost as seasoned as our dad and I thought that was disgusting. After talking to dad, I couldn’t wait for Dad to get house from the hospital. Dad and I talked while she made lunch, and then Dad got home. I started telling her about the senior toil expo. I mentioned the HVAC company being there, and she said it would be a nice task for our sibling. I wasn’t thinking about our sibling, but me. I told her I was considering HVAC as a work. She frowned and told me that HVAC wasn’t women’s work. I should get a task like she had, instead of HVAC. How could being an HVAC serviceman, be worse than being a medical professional. She was in surgery all day, playing with people’s insides and getting blood all over her. I would just be dealing with dirty or broken HVAC systems. I just shook our head and walked away, remembering how our Dad wanted me to follow in her footsteps and be a medical professional. I knew I didn’t want to be a medical professional, and I had told her that from the first time she mentioned. I may not be an HVAC serviceman either, but it was a better option than being a medical professional.
