My fiance hated my proposal.

I was in the middle of servicing a customer’s furnace when I decided it was time to propose to my wife.

It seemed like the perfect time to talk to her.

I hit the button for video chat and pressed her phone number. I pulled out a nut, to use as the diamond I had at home. I got down on one knee as soon as she got on the line. I told her how much I loved her, and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I hold up the nut and asked if she would marry me. She asked if I was in a basement working on a furnace, and I laughed. She told me it was the worst proposal she could have thought of, and she was not impressed. I should try this again when I wasn’t dirty and substituting a dirty nut for a ring. I wasn’t sure if she was rejecting me, or just upset over my choice of the proposal area, and that I should be clean. I finished up the furnace and went upstairs. The husband was shaking his head and laughing when he saw me. He said he overheard my proposal and it was a good thing I was an HVAC tech. It would be hard to explain why I was calling from a basement. I’m not the smartest, proposing from a basement while working on a furnace, but she knew I was thinking about her. I;ll give her a proper proposal when I see her later that evening, after I’ve cleaned up from work.
