I went to school so I could have an auto shop career.

Most kids have no idea what they want to do with their life when they are fourteen, but I did. I told my dad I wanted to work in an auto shop when I got older. He tried to dissuade me from this idea, but I was adamant. I think he gave up, thinking that since I was so young I didn’t really know what my mind wanted, and I would give up on the idea. When I turned fifteen, I found out that I could take up auto customization in shop classes and go to the technical school and get all the training I needed. When I graduate from high school, all I would need to do is get certified, and I could have an auto shop career. Before graduation, I started looking at all the auto shops in our area. I chose several to go to and put in an application once I had an auto customization certification. I was sure that I would be a good choice for any one of these auto shops. I began working hard and whenever someone in my family wanted something done to their cars, I volunteered my help. My family soon realized how serious I was about the idea of an auto shop career. Everyone, except my dad, that was. He was still trying to talk me into a career anywhere but in an auto shop. I told him that I would look into other careers, but my heart was set on an auto shop career. It didn’t matter if he looked at me as his little princess, he was going to also see me as a good auto shop specialist.
