I was on call all weekend and it was busy as ever

When the weather starts changing to warm temperatures and humid days, I get really busy at work.

As an AC repairman, the busy time of the year occurs during the summer months.

I am equally busy with work during the winter months, but summer is harder because I have to deal with the warm temperatures. It rains almost every single day at least once or twice. I have to keep an extra change of clothes in my car just in case I get hit. Last year, I got totally drenched with rain just running from the building to my truck. The rain lasted for ten minutes, but everything was under water. I was on call all weekend last month and I had five calls during that time. We encourage our customers to make appointments for Monday unless there is a severe emergency. We charge a heap of cash for the after hours call, but some customers still insist on having the problem fixed at two in the morning. I was working last weekend when a customer called with an emergency. I had just fallen asleep and I was very cranky. The customer insisted that the problem was an emergency, but it was 79° and I did not think that the problem could not wait until the next morning. The customer agreed to pay all of the additional fees for the after-hours and emergency service call. I couldn’t argue with that. Most of those fees go right into my pocket. The problem with the AC unit turned out to actually be an issue with the thermostat. The thermostat batteries were dead. I charged that guy almost $200 for the service call so I could replace a $5 9-volt battery.
