Clueless meets clueless in an HVAC quest

Torie held out her tablet to me with the screen displaying over six HVAC brands.

I looked at her helplessly since when it came to which HVAC unit was ideal, I was as helpless as her.

Since she wanted an HVAC system that uses new HVAC technology, I knew just the right person to ask. We had been working the morning shift, which meant we had the afternoon off. I called the HVAC provider to find out if I could schedule an HVAC maintenance. That day Torie came home with me to ask the HVAC repairman everything she needed to know about purchasing quality HVAC. We were lucky that we were the last call the HVAC professional attended, which meant he could advise us on the new HVAC equipment without hurrying off to his next appointment. Torie told him about her home and what she wanted to achieve with her next HVAC installation. Last year, she bought a new thermostat to help with indoor comfort, so that was one less thing to worry about, and it would not continue eating into her savings. He offered her his HVAC business card to contact him for more information since it was getting late and he had to leave. She invited him to join us for drinks in typical Torie fashion, but he politely declined. Instead of going out, we opted to open a bottle of wine and order takeout as we discussed and marveled at how expensive some heaters and ac are, not to mention the installation cost. Torie did not get her new system until a year later when she had a better budget.
