Calling an HVAC Professional Would Have Saved us Hundreds

I’m really good at acknowledging what I can and cannot fix.

Whenever something breaks or stops now working as it should, I delicately try to service it myself. However, as soon as I realize that things require professional help, I immediately cease trying to service things and contact someone who knows what they’re doing. While I’m really good about doing this, my lovely hubby is horrendous at it. He never likes to admit that he isn’t capable of doing something himself. I guess it’s a man thing but truthfully there are some things that need professional guidance and should be left alone otherwise. For example, when our furnace started running without stopping, my lovely man decided to take things into his own hands. While he’s really good at fixing and repairing a lot of things, HVAC systems are not his forte. I advised my wonderful hubby that the two of us should hire an HVAC business to come find the issue, even though he wouldn’t have it. Instead, he spent an entire day taking things apart and trying to find the root of the problem. He couldn’t put all the pieces back together, such a shame, and our furnace stopped working altogether. After I begged him to pack it up, the two of us called the HVAC business to come service our heater. The HVAC professional charged us a big fortune to put everything back together and “repair” the issue. According to the HVAC professional, the two of us just needed a new washable air filter. Had the two of us called him first, we both would have saved many hundreds of dollars. I don’t suppose that my lovely hubby will ever learn.
