A real estate agents can be helpful when investing in rental properties

Last year, my sister and I decided to invest in a rental property.

This is something that we have never done before, but after doing some research and getting advice from our good friend Samantha, who is a realtor, we took the leap.

Samantha found the perfect property for us to invest in and she took care of all the paperwork, and we had no issues closing on the property. The entire process took about 4 months from beginning to end, which is about the average time it takes to buy a house in our state. The house that we purchased was a three-bedroom two-bathroom townhouse that needed very little maintenance before it was ready to be rented. Samantha gave us the phone number to her handyman who she typically uses to perform repairs for her rental properties. His name is John, and he was able to fix all the minor issues that we encountered for a good price. We replaced the kitchen sink and did some minor upgrades to one of the restrooms. John also suggested that we changed the blinds from the horizontal blinds to vertical ones. We appreciated his advice because the vertical blinds were more stylish. John did a great job, and my sister and I decided that we will use him as our handyman to perform all the home repairs for this rental property. It’s good to have a reliable handyman to take care of repairs when they arise, we also need to find an HVAC repairman to perform the necessary maintenance. We are hoping to have this property rented soon with Samantha’s help. It’s good to have a real estate agent available when investing in rental properties.

 

Apartment leases
