Zone control heating and cooling is large improvement

Having zoning capabilities has significantly improved the comfort and value of the home

I recently replaced my heating and cooling plan to zone control. It has been 1 of the best condo improvements I’ve ever made. The condo is nearly 3 thoUSnd square feet, and there are rooms that the two of us rarely use. I was paying to keep unoccupied areas at the ideal temperature. I’d already taken all sorts of precautions to tightly seal the thermal envelope. I’d replaced windows, caulked, weatherstripped and insulated and yet was paying super high quarterly energy bills. I also invested into a variable speed plan which automatically adjusts capacity to supply the exact amount of heating and cooling necessary at any given time. I still was unhappy with my utility bills. However, the variable speed plan made it possible to add zones separate from adding a bypass duct. This is because the plan is capable of sending a smaller volume of air through the ducts when a zone requires it, avoiding static pressure in the system. Both of us now have a thermostat installed in each of the rooms that allows us to customize temperature settings. Both of us no longer need to live with home offices that are boiling during the summer time or a residing room that’s always chilly in the winter. I’m able to target my condo office during the workday and avoid heating or cooling the home offices until we’re headed to bed. Having zoning capabilities has significantly improved the comfort and value of the home. It lessened demands on the gas furnace and air conditioner and significantly trimmed running costs. Because the two of us installed smart thermostats, the two of us also have the added convenience of wireless access to temperature adjustment.
