We probably have to get a new furnace before next winter.
- I am so thankful that winter weather is finally over.
It feels like the cold has just lingered around this year longer than usual, and I have not been a huge fan. Our furnace started giving us trouble towards the end of March. The temperatures were still quite cold then, so we needed our furnace. We sort of just ignored the problem for the first couple weeks of April, but it didn’t take long for us to realize that the furnace was not going to make it much longer. It was having trouble keeping the house up to temperature, and it was in the fifties outside. I cannot imagine how cold it would have been in the house if it had been in the thirties still. I am so glad that our furnace lasted as long as it did. We decided to call an HVAC technician to come and check it out in mid April. They came over and took a few minutes to look at our furnace. They told us that they could fix it, but they basically said that it was not really worth fixing. They thought our money would be better spent getting a new furnace. Our furnace was around fifty years old, and it was in pretty rough shape. We do not have the money right now to buy a new furnace, but I am thankful that we don’t have to buy one until next winter. We have the entire summer to save up for a new furnace. I am just so thankful that our furnace did not die earlier. It is actually still working now, it just doesn’t work well.
