The constant heat was making me dreadfully exhausted

I was acutely aware of the heat, and not even the ceiling fans could relieve my discomfort

Although I have been taking an early afternoon nap for the past three afternoons, I typically don’t feel tired until late morning or early afternoon. I knew the relentless heat was to blame for my exhaustion. It was a struggle to maintain consciousness when I returned to my apartment from work. At least half an hour of resting on the couch or in my recliner was required before I felt like moving again. It was great to get the apartment ahead of schedule so that I could get some chores out of the way. The last week had been extremely hot, but I had refused to turn on the air conditioning. Even though it was only May, I almost turned on the air conditioner. At the beginning of May, it was unusually hot, but after that, the temperature dropped back down to the 60s and 70s, where it stayed for the rest of the month. Even though I’m older now, I anticipated the same thing happening this year. I was acutely aware of the heat, and not even the ceiling fans could relieve my discomfort. Even though I was unable to keep my windows open during the day, I was able to sleep well at night with the fans on and the windows propped open. I arrived home from the office when the temperature outside was at its peak, feeling exhausted. In retrospect, I realize that I should have used the car’s air conditioning.I’ll just keep napping, and when the weather cools off in a couple of afternoons, I’ll hopefully be able to get my body back on its regular schedule, unless it’s already acclimated to those naps.
