The car’s boiler broke, and my teeth cracked from shivering

Last year around this time, I was making my way north to visit my family.

I went home for the holidays and didn’t work for three weeks.

I was hoping to go skiing and missed the snow and cold that came with our area. Approximately 100 miles from my apartment, my car’s boiler gave out. The heating and air conditioning made me so cold that my teeth started to chatter. I went to an auto repair shop hoping they could fix my HVAC system, but no one was there to help me. They assured me that at the service station thirty miles down the road, someone would be available to fix my air conditioner and heater. I figured I’d go back to the apartment and take the car to the service station instead of trying to make it another thirty miles. I was confident that they had experts on staff who could fix the HVAC system. I turned off the heat and air conditioning system, even though I didn’t want the cold air blowing in my face, because I knew the windows would freeze. When I finally got home, I was so chilled that I couldn’t feel my nose and I was positive I’d broken a tooth from shivering so hard. When I got home, I was so shaken up that I couldn’t even speak to my mom. She tried to make me feel more comfortable by providing me with a blanket, and a cup of coffee, and by turning on the electric fireplace. When the car’s heating and air conditioning stopped working, she had it towed to the nearest repair shop. In other words, returning to one’s own residence was a welcome relief.
