I do a lot of traveling for my job, and because of this, I am constantly staying at hotels.
My job generally pays for the hotels I get to stay at, and they are often really nice 4 or 5 star hotels. Really nice stuff. Which is why, when I pulled up to this junky looking 2 star hotel, I had to check my navigation again to make sure I was at the right place. Yep, I was. I couldn’t believe my eyes at the horribleness of this hotel. I called my boss and asked about this awful hotel, and he told me it was the closest to where my new work location was going to be, and that it was only temporarily. I decided that he was right, and it was only temporarily, so I could deal with an ugly hotel for a little while. I checked into the hotel, and it was even worse than I thought. One of the first sights I saw was a giant roach on the wall, that alone was almost enough to make me want to sleep in my car. It didn’t help that this place was shady and in the middle of nowhere. I went into my room and was hit with a wave of heat. It was boiling hot in that room! I fumbled with the heating and cooling system, but the heater refused to turn off! I complained about it at the desk, but the receptionist merely shrugged. The air conditioning unit was also incredibly noisy. Then to top it off, when I pulled back the covers, there were a variety of different stains on the white sheet. That’s it. Between the HVAC system and everything else wrong with this hotel, I decided I was sleeping in my car tonight.
