When dad said he wanted us to go away for the holidays, I thought he was booking a hotel somewhere warm, away from our frosty cold winters.
However, he had something else in mind.
Since most relatives were coming home in the summer, he knew this was the right time to do a family trip. Dad announced he was renting a house for us. This house was in an area where we used to enjoy camping in, in the summer, when we kids were teenagers. Everyone thought that was a great idea; it was a fun experience for the whole family. Also, the teenagers could participate in the family tradition. However, my family and I wanted assurances that the site had a reliable gas furnace. Who wants to be stuck in the middle of nowhere, away from any heating plan to keep warm? Dad was adamant that the house had a reliable furnace. He had called and evaluated; the rental agent assured him we’d be comfortable because of their furnace. The trip was to last the entire Christmas break, so we made sure we shopped for enough food and supplies. Arriving at the cabin, we found it warm, special, and cozy. Someone had come in earlier and made sure the furnace was warm,so we’d appreciate a pleasant space when my friend and I arrived. Dad was so happy the rental agent had been truthful about the amazing oil gas furnace that he promised to leave a stellar review when we got back home. The house also had a smart thermostat that made it easy to set the temperature.
