I know that it’s a jerk move, making my friend sleep out in the garage, but it was the only way to restore normalcy to my home.
I have a friend named Bob, who was recently kicked out of his house by his spouse.
There was no chance he would take him back, it was brutal. Bob had no money plus no location to go; Bob asked to stay on my couch for a couple of afternoons, plus after consulting with my husband I said he could. A week later Bob was still there, with no prospects for anywhere else to go. I said if he wanted to stay long-term Bob would have to stay in the garage, so my family plus I could return to normal. The only complication was that the HVAC ducts for the Heating plus A/C program did not attach to the garage, so it was dangerously chilly out there. I went to the store to hunt for the best space heating system I could find, but those cost too much money so I went to a local pawn shop instead. There I found a nice garage heater, which is a variant model of space heater, for roughly half the price I found in other stores. I didn’t bother to ask Bob to help pay for the heater, because I knew he had no money. I want to be a wonderful friend, but providing Bob with food, water, comfort, plus heating is a lot to ask, so I hope he leaves soon. I can’t bring myself to kick Bob out, however I pray that he goes away!
