I imagined we would have time to service the heating system before winter came.
In the past, we always knew when winter was near.
That’s why we planned ahead to have the heating expert over at the house. The heating company would send an expert to come check if the unit was in good working condition and do necessary repairs. In our location, it’s quite risky staying in a house with a broken heating system. The winter weather got so bad and the area is also prone to nasty blizzards. Everyone knows its very easy for a storm to prevent any emergency repairs to take place. However, with the changing climate across the world, we were not prepared for what happened. There were signs everywhere that fall wasn’t yet over so we went ahead with the set service date. But, about a week to the set appointment, we had the worst snowstorm ever. The once bare ground was covered with inches of snow and the house was freezing. We tried to work the heating system but it was unresponsive. To make matters worse, the heating expert explained they couldn’t take any emergency calls in such weather. We were on our own and knew we were in deep trouble. Thankfully, we had these old space heaters that we kept around for camping and emergencies. Using them to heat the house worked but we swore to move up the service date for the heating system. It took two more days before a heating system expert came to the house to inspect the unit. I have never been so happy to see his van pull up on the driveway before.
