Our kids wanted to know what happens during HVAC repairs

We always encourage our kids to be curious.

It’s better to ask about something and learn. We made learning so fun that they are never shy to ask questions, even new people. The only rule is to be polite and not make someone else feel bad. Growing up, my parents raised me the same way, and I was lucky to find an equally curious partner. Learning new things has taken us on so many different adventures. About a month ago, we arrived home one evening and noticed an issue with the cooling system. I had left the unit cooling the house since it was in the middle of summer. The thermostat still stated that the unit was running, but no cool air was blowing from the air vents. We had two options. One, we’d leave the cooling unit as is and call the HVAC technician the next day. Two, we’d pay extra to have the HVAC technician come pronto to fix the issue. Frankly, it was too hot to sleep comfortably, so we agreed to contact the HVAC company and pay the extra emergency fee. The HVAC technician arrived half an hour later and began inspecting the unit. Our kids went ahead and requested to watch him work. He was such a lovely fellow and didn’t dismiss their curiosity. Instead, he took them step by step as he hunted down why the cooling system stopped working. It turns out our evaporator coil and air filters were filthy. He had to clean the coil and change the air filter for the cooling system to work once more.
